Maplewood Neighborhood Guide

Maplewood is one of those Southwest Portland neighborhoods that can feel surprisingly removed from the city. Set along Portland’s western edge near Garden Home, it’s a neighborhood of rolling hills, creeks, mature trees, and winding residential streets—many of which end in quiet cul-de-sacs or dead ends rather than following Portland’s familiar street grid.

The housing is varied, but mid-century homes and ranches are a big part of the neighborhood’s character. Maplewood also sits between two useful hubs: Multnomah Village to the east and the shops and services around Garden Home to the west. For parks, Gabriel Park is just to the northeast, with 89 acres of sports fields, trails, playgrounds, natural areas and open space.
